Magflow meters are by far the most widely used flow meter type across all industries. They have no moving parts and come in a full spectrum of sizes—e.g. from 25mm to 2000mm.

Magflow Meters:
Principle of Operation

This is a basic explanation: the meters operate by combining a transmitter and sensor together to measure flow. The sensor is placed within the pipeline and its electrodes measure the induced voltage which is generated by the medium as it passes through the body or tube of the flow meter. 

It’s worth noting that to do this effectively, the pipe must remain full. The transmitter receives this signal and converts the voltage into a proportional flow velocity measurement. This flow measurement can then be used as simple local indication of what’s flowing within your system along with transmitting that flow proportionally via the electronic outputs built into the transmitter. Pulse and current outputs are the most common.

Magflow Meter Parts

The meters are split into a few parts that can all be built into one item, or split into separate items (consider this when ordering). An Integral/compact mounted Magflow meter has no cables - the transmitter/display is mounted directly onto the sensor and a remote mounted transmitter is connected to the sensor via cables.

Commonly used terms

MAG5100W sensor with the MAG5000/6000 transmitter is their flagship, mains powered flow meter. 24V would be the preferred option here. The transmitter/display can either be remote or integral mounted.

MAG8000 is their battery-powered option. The transmitter/display can either be remote or integral mounted.

OPTIFLUX2000 sensor with the IFC100 transmitter is their flagship, mains powered flow meter. 24V would be the preferred option here. The transmitter/display can either be remote or integral mounted.

WATERFLUX3070 is their battery-powered option. The transmitter/display can either be remote or integral mounted.

WATERMASTER FEV/FEW sensor, with the watermaster transmitter, is their flagship, mains powered flow meter. 24V would be the preferred option here. The transmitter/display can either be remote or integral mounted.

AQUAMASTER—their battery powered option. The transmitter/display can either be remote or integral mounted.

8750W is their flagship mains powered Flow meter. 24V would be the preferred option here. The transmitter/display can either be remote or integral mounted.​

PROMAG 10L is their flagship mains powered Flow meter. 24V would be the preferred option here. The transmitter/display can either be remote or integral mounted.

PROMAG L400 (water) & W400 (waste water) are their most recent additions which are now specified in place of the 10L/W etc., although these models are still very much available. 24V would be the preferred option here. The transmitter/display can either be remote or integral mounted.
