A flow meter that's drifting out of spec doesn't announce itself. It just quietly records the wrong data, until your next verification reveals the problem, or worse, until ECan raises a compliance issue.
Flow meters are robust instruments, but they're not maintenance-free. Over time, electrodes foul, mechanical components wear, transmitter settings drift, and cable connections degrade. For irrigation consent holders and trade waste dischargers, a meter that's out of spec isn't just a technical problem, it's a compliance risk.
A routine inspection that catches a fouled electrode or a failing transmitter costs a fraction of what an emergency meter replacement, and the associated compliance remediation, will set you back.
Our standard service inspection covers the key components that affect meter performance and longevity:
Following every inspection we provide a written service report documenting the condition of the meter and any remediation carried out or recommended.
Beyond the physical inspection, we carry out in-field performance testing to confirm the meter is operating within its specified range: in-field performance check against known flow conditions, electronic diagnostics for mag meters (coil resistance, electrode impedance, empty pipe detection), transmitter configuration review, and early fault detection for components approaching end of life.
Where our inspection or diagnostics identify a fault, we carry out remediation on-site where possible, transmitter replacement or reconfiguration, mechanical component replacement, cable and connection repairs, and grounding ring replacement. Where a full meter replacement is required, we handle the supply, installation, and verification of the new meter.
For customers with flow meters connected to our cloud-based water management platform, we provide ongoing telemetry servicing and remote monitoring. Our platform gives us the ability to detect anomalies early and diagnose issues without always needing a site visit, saving significant time and cost for remote Canterbury irrigation sites.
For customers with multiple meters or strict compliance obligations, we offer planned maintenance programmes, scheduled servicing aligned to your verification cycle and consent requirements. Verification due dates tracked, service visits scheduled, compliance documentation maintained.
Discuss a programmeWe service flow meters from all major manufacturers regardless of who installed them, Siemens, Endress+Hauser, Krohne, ABB, and others. If you're looking for a new service provider for your existing meters, contact us to discuss what's involved.
Contact usWhether you have a meter that's failed a verification or you want to stay ahead of problems, we have a service to suit.
We attend site, diagnose the fault, and advise on repair or replacement options. Same-day attendance available for urgent consent situations.
Scheduled site visits to inspect, clean, and check your meter, timed to fit your irrigation season and verification schedule.
For electromagnetic meters, a non-invasive health check using brand-specific test equipment. Certificate issued on completion.
Don't wait for a verification failure. These are the early indicators that something's wrong.
Unexplained changes in recorded flow rates with no change in usage
Meter display showing error codes or blank readings
Data logger showing gaps, missed readings, or connectivity dropouts
Meter reading zero or near-zero flow when water is clearly running
Verification due date approaching and meter has had no attention since last check
Meter installed in a high-sediment or chemically aggressive water source
Annual servicing is recommended for most applications, more frequently for meters in demanding conditions such as high sediment loads, aggressive fluids, or high-cycle operation. For meters approaching their verification due date, a service inspection before verification helps ensure they pass first time.
Yes. We service flow meters from all major manufacturers regardless of who installed them, Siemens, Endress+Hauser, Krohne, ABB, and others. Contact us to discuss what's involved in taking over servicing of your existing meters.
Our standard inspection covers physical condition, transmitter and display, cable and connection integrity, electrode/coil condition (mag meters), mechanical components (turbine meters), output signal verification, and data logger or telemetry connection. We provide a written service report following every visit.
Our cloud-based water management platform is NZ Flow Group's cloud-based telemetry and data hosting platform. It provides real-time flow data, remote meter health monitoring, anomaly detection, and 24/7 engineering helpdesk support. For remote Canterbury irrigation sites, our cloud platform reduces the need for site visits by enabling remote diagnostics and early fault detection.
Yes. We offer planned maintenance programmes for customers with multiple meters or strict compliance obligations. We track your verification due dates, schedule service visits at agreed intervals, and manage your compliance documentation, so nothing slips through. We also operate a QR code-based Asset Management system, allowing quick access to the full service and compliance history of any meter in the field.
Yes. If a meter fails verification, we carry out diagnostics to identify the cause and repair or replace the affected components where possible. If the meter is beyond economic repair, we handle the supply, installation, and verification of a replacement.
Yes. We service and maintain our telemetry platform units, including solar power systems, data loggers, communication modules, and remote monitoring configurations. Firmware updates and configuration changes are carried out remotely where possible.
